8 bits in a byte

While waiting for a multi-gigabyte file to copy I kicked myself because I've come to rely on the Bing "convert" search too much.  I actually looked up the conversion from MB/s to mbps instead of stopping to think about it... my professors from years ago would be so disappointed!  8 bits in a byte so... 8x = y mbps where x= known MB/s.
